Spanish people are equal before the law, without any discrimination on grounds of birth, race, sex, religion, opinion or any other condition or personal or social circumstance.

Everyone has the right to life and physical and moral integrity, without, in any case, may be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment. Abolished the death penalty, except as may be available to military criminal law in times of war.
